Wiltshire Radio 'Join our Club' slot.

Sensei Mike Healy was interviewed today on Wiltshire Radio in the 'Join our Club' slot.

Mike explained the difference between Zen judo and Competition judo, and emphasised the cooperative, family orientated approach

to building ability and confidence. We endeavour to use our opponents momentum, rather than our own strength and Sue Davies, the Host, was surprised how easily her balance was taken when she asked for a demonstration.

We had asked our members why our club was good, as Mike was going to be asked why people should join.

Here are some of the replies, from both young and more experienced.

"you have fun with your friends", "Friendship Group", "you make new friends", "makes people smile", "Fun"

"Confidence building", "you can defend yourself and be confident", "to protect yourself", "supportive learning environment", "welcoming/Accepting"

"Learn self defence techniques and how to fall with style", "you can defend yourself",

"You don't have to be sporty or overly fit, gradually their flexibility and posture will improve. we are a friendly club, the children and adults interact well and we genuinely learn from each other. its fun you leave feeling better than when you arrive. you learn the art of judo which is physical, mental, moral and spiritual not just a sport"

"you get fit and make loads of friends", " we all teach other so you feel happy in front of the group "

"team building","rewarding", "great instruction", "you take the confidence instilled into school and work"

"it is great to have a common interest with my teenagers"

"I was 45 when I started, only joined in because my boys had been doing it for a couple of years. 8 years later I'm still enjoying and still learning".

see our contacts page and let us know if you want to come and watch, first sessions are free and newcomers need to be happy that Zen judo is the right martial art and that they like our teaching environment.
